Human Rights Activist. Screenwriter. Journalist. Occasional Lizard Chaser.
Stories are powerful, and since my first published work, a ten page illustrated tome covering the lifestyles of goblins (“Goblins”) more or less self published in second grade, I’ve been hooked on telling ‘em. For the last decade, I’ve been a human rights activist and journalist. Sometimes the stories appear in an international news outlet, and sometimes it’s a little more direct - like shouted out of a megaphone direct.
I’ve founded, organized, and developed strategy and communications for campaigns taking on right wing misinformation, immigrant rights, Fair Trade, fracking, and Facebook reform. I’ve licked envelopes and I’ve led crowds and I’ve marched and shouted and been chased out of places by hostile reactionaries and generally tried my best to make things better on this planet. Organizations I’ve co-founded have been featured in CNET, CNBC, LA Times, and ABC News. You might have also seen this very important thing we did.
My reporting and analysis have appeared in The Independent, The Earth Island Journal, Alternet, and many others, covering human rights, labor, the environment, and once, the circus movement in the Bay Area. (The guy who told me it was really easy to get out of the straight jacket as part of my research for that circus story was not telling the truth.)
My fiction and poetry have appeared in publications across the United States, UK, Ireland, and Australia, and my work has been nominated for the prestigious Pushcart Prize in short fiction. Represented for all things fiction (nonfiction too, actually) by the wonderful Lizz Nagle at Victress Literary.
And as for screenwriting, I’ve helped co-found two production cooperatives, 3 Lb. Magician, with an emphasis on live action and audio productions, and the international animation cooperative Pemberton County Martial Arts Studio and Bingo Parlor - with members in Morocco, France, Mexico, and the United States.
Have a look around. Drop me a line.
